DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Which are not in any hierarchical order) 1. Responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of day-to-day activities and all community outreach events assigned within the Juvenile and Community Engagement Unit. 2. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with individuals, community leaders, non-profits, and neighborhood groups focused on improving public safety, crime prevention, and the quality of life. 3. Plans, develops, implements, and coordinates day-to-day activities of special neighborhood programs including but not limited to the iWatch Program; monitors programs for effectiveness and assesses need for new, continued, or expanded services. 4. Coordinates and takes part in various crime prevention and related programs and community activities and meetings; arranges necessary materials, equipment, and other support; sets-up for events and programs, as necessary to include applying for MOU’s. 5. Takes part on a variety of boards, and attends meetings, as assigned. 6. Responds to inquiries and questions relating to Police program matters and referring such matters for assistance to the appropriate departments, or outside agencies. 7. Assist in a variety of operational and administrative activities including but not limited to researching information, preparing reports, and grant applications and grant reporting data. 8. Supervising, assisting, and coordinating volunteers for police events including but not limited to static displays at schools, safety events, and community events. 9. Engage and interact with youth programs within the Juvenile and Community Engagement Unit. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned. Salary Depending on qualifications the starting salary for this position will be in the range of (Pay Grade 58): Minimum Range

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality, or related field (education will be verified using the “Education Requirements” listed below) and three (3) years of work-related experience is required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid State of Florida driver’s license, required. A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be used upon application; with the ability to get the State of Florida driver’s license within 30 days from the day of employment.
Education Requirements :
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by: a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a), b), or c), above, for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a), b), or c) above. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements. Additional Details The selection process for this position may consist of any, all or a combination of the following tests: Evaluation of training and experience (minimum qualifications) Passing of oral interview CVSA completed satisfactory Background/criminal record evaluation Passing of physical/drug/alcohol screening Never convicted of a felony; or misdemeanor involving perjury, false statement, moral turpitude, or domestic violence.
State of Emergency:
When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work, and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
