Solid Waste/Recycling Monitor (S-9) 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 41 Elm Street, Southbridge, MA 01550 The Town of Southbridge is seeking a reliable and community-focused individual to join our team as a Solid Waste & Recycling Monitor . This position plays an important role in promoting public health and environmental compliance by monitoring curbside waste and recycling activity, investigating complaints, and enforcing local and state regulations.

Position Purpose:
Position is responsible for investigating complaints affecting the general public, violations of the State Sanitary Code, State Environmental, local Board of Health regulations and Town by-laws with concerns to Solid Waste and Recycling. Assists in the development and implementation of the recycling program. Performs all other related work as required.
Essential Functions :

Observes and investigates into violations of the Town’s curbside solid waste rules and regulations. Responsible for contact with offenders, if determined, and then educates the person on proper procedures. Maintains records of violations and violators. Recognizes repeat offenders and initiates pre-approved enforcement actions including written warnings. Advises Supervisor of non-responsive/non-compliant persons. Proposes to Supervisor further enforcement that may be necessary. Promotes the curbside toter program and any other curbside solid waste programs being instituted by the Town. Monitors transfer station when applicable. Delivers toters to citizens, repairs, and maintains records of deliveries completed. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
