About this Opportunity The Solid Waste Coordinator is responsible for performing a combination of administrative and technical duties in support of the County’s recycling, waste reduction, and environmental education programs. This position coordinates local involvement with Keep America Beautiful, promotes anti-litter campaigns, and encourages public participation in recycling through a variety of educational presentations and outreach initiatives. The role involves developing and maintaining recycling markets and sources, overseeing the daily operations of convenience sites and drop-off recycling centers, and investigating new methods for reducing landfill waste. The coordinator also recruits and manages volunteers to assist with recycling and waste reduction efforts. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining accurate records and files, preparing program reports, handling data entry, answering phone calls, and managing general office tasks. The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative, particularly when working with the public and addressing matters related to County policies, procedures, and programs. Education and Experience Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business management, supplemented with 2 to 3 years’ experience in solid waste management or environmental management; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Special Requirements

IS 100, IS 200, IS

700 and IS 800 required within 6 months of employment. Certifications from SWANA or CRA in Solid Waste or recycling fields are preferred. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
