Job Description

Environmental Control Technician Piedmont Chemical Ind. 331 Burton Avenue, High Point, NC 27262 Position summary: Provides assistance in environmental control to include wastewater, hazardous/ non-hazardous waste management, and storm water. Other duties as assigned to Environmental Control Department personnel to ensure regulatory requirements are met and departmental operations are facilitated.

General purpose:

To assist maintaining overall compliance of wastewater, stormwater, and industrial/hazardous waste disposal.

Role qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to Pass Pulmonary Test.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Flexibility of personal schedule to provide work coverage as required Position responsibilities: Environmental Control Technician
  • Responsible for all waste water treatment operations.
  • Available to provide work coverage as is required for daily Water Treatment operation. (Including coming in the weekends for short periods of time, as needed)
  • Processing appropriate tests on effluent samples and record results.
  • Ensure that departmental goals are met in timely manner as specified by reporting supervisor or department manager. Waste/Environmental Duties
  • Assisting in disposal of recyclable paper materials (Preparing/Taking material to the recycling facility)
  • Assists in Universal Waste handling (Ensuring proper storage & prepping for pick up)
  • Dealing with Chemical Waste generated by the plant both Hazardous and Non-Hazardous. This involves pumping chemicals into a large vessel/and or combining drums/totes of material. This also involves, segregation types of waste into physical locations using a Forklift ( There will be training on how to do this properly )
  • Also responsible for assisting with loading tankers with outgoing Non-Regulated Waste.
  • Assists in the disposal of Electronic Waste (As needed, normally 1-2 times per year).
  • Assists in cleaning and maintaining the yard area.
  • Samples potential waste materials to Quality Assurance areas for proper testing.
  • Assists in Auditing all waste storage area Universal Waste/Electronic/Central Accumulation areas.
  • Moves chemical wastes from production and warehouse areas to proper areas for staging and disposal.
  • Required to help maintain paperwork pertaining to Non-regulated and Regulated Waste requirements.
  • Miscellaneous Environmental, Safety or Compliance Department tasks as required.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Skilled Forklift Operator.
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Ability to understand both written & oral instructions.
  • Ability to Drive
  • Good Math Skill
  • Ability to roll drum weighing 600 lbs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$20.00 – $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
