JOB SUMMARY:
This position operates equipment in the collection and transport of solid waste and in the maintenance of city grounds and rights-of-way. An incumbent in this position may be designated Sanitation Equipment Operator II or Sanitation Equipment Operator
III.MAJOR DUTIES
Operates a front-end loader, garbage truck, boom truck, and other equipment collect residential, commercial, and yard waste on an assigned route. Deliver garbage cans to customers. Performs equipment inspection and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment; checks oil levels, greases joints, and checks fluid levels; cleans vehicles and equipment. Assists in responding to and resolving customer questions and concerns. Removes debris and dead animals from streets and right-of-way. Operates a bush-hog, mowers, and other equipment to maintain ditches and rights-of-way. Operates leaf machine to collect leaves on an assigned route. Operates leaf blower, chainsaw, weed eater and other hand and power tools. Applies pesticide to control weeds. Mows and maintains lawns and grassy area on city property.
