May 14, 2025 This class drives and operates general, small, and simple road construction and maintenance-of-way equipment, as assigned daily. This is a “mandatory-testing” position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

May operate a variety of general, small, and simple equipment in the performance of construction, maintenance, and repair work to streets, landscaped areas, landfills, and/or other related areas, which may include: loaders, skid steers, knuckle boom loaders, track hoes, gradalls, bush hogs, flatbeds, chainsaws, weed eaters, and/or other related equipment Inspects, maintains, and performs basic repair to equipment Utilizes a two-way radio and/or hand signals to communicate information to work crewmembers Operates a variety of small motorized and/or hand tools if performing manual labor activities Maintains a variety of records, logs, and applicable documentation Performs other duties of a similar nature or level Positions assigned to the Landfill may be responsible for: Examining solid waste entering the facility and identifies prohibited waste based on established rules Removing prohibited waste from active fill areas by hand and/or with applicable equipment

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and some experience with heavy equipment, farm implements or equipment, and/or construction equipment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licenses and Certifications:

Positions assigned to Solid Waste require a valid Operator’s Driver’s License. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics (KSAO’s): Occupational hazards and safety precautions; General equipment and vehicle maintenance principles; Customer service principles; Safe driving practices. Providing customer service; Caring for and operating motor vehicles and applicable equipment; Maintaining records; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
