JOIN OUR TEAM AS A SOLID WASTE ATTENDANT!

Advanced manual work relating to the operation of landfill area for the general public. Operates front-end loader, dozer, tub grinder, and other equipment during routine landfill operations. Operates a scale which is controlled by the computer equipment. Essential Job Functions Closes and secures area at the end of each workday. Performs litter control at the landfill site. Operates equipment to cover refuse and to maintain landfill berms, drains, channels, retention ponds, and ancillary areas. Issues tickets and/or receipts corresponding with charge. Keeps accurate records of money received each day and makes daily reports of such receipts. Balances and reconciles records. Opens Solid Waste Facility Area for use by the general public in waste disposal. Receives general public and determines appropriate charges for the dumping of waste in accordance with previously adopted charging policies. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to learn to operate equipment associated with solid waste facilities. Working knowledge of the operation of dozers and front-end loaders. Knowledge of basic record keeping principles and procedures. Ability to perform daily work involving written or numerical data and to make arithmetic calculations accurately. Ability to maintain simple clerical records. Ability to receive cash funds and make change accurately. Ability to communicate and interface with the public. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat, and walk. Ability to work outside with exposure to all elements of weather. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Six (6) months of experience as a Solid Waste Attendant, Equipment Operator or in a similar position.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
