Job Summary:
The Trash Sorter is responsible for inspecting, identifying, and sorting waste materials to ensure recyclable items are separated from non-recyclable or hazardous waste. This role plays a critical part in the recycling process and helps minimize environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort and separate recyclables such as paper, plastic, glass, and metal from general waste. Inspect incoming waste materials on a conveyor belt or sorting table. Remove hazardous or non-recyclable items manually or using tools. Ensure materials are placed into appropriate containers or bins. Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with health and safety regulations. Report equipment malfunctions, contamination issues, or safety hazards to supervisors. Follow operational guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work efficiently to meet daily quotas and production targets.
Qualifications:
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks. Comfortable working in environments that may be dirty, loud, or odorous. Basic understanding of materials and recycling categories. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
