Job Summary:

Summit Waste Services is seeking a reliable and hardworking Bulk Waste Technician to join our waste collection team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and courteous collection of bulk waste materials such as furniture, appliances, and other oversized items from residential and commercial properties. You will play a vital part in maintaining clean communities and upholding the company’s commitment to exceptional customer service and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate or assist with the operation of bulk waste collection vehicles and equipment. Load, secure, and unload large waste items such as mattresses, couches, appliances, and yard debris. Follow assigned routes and schedules accurately while maintaining timely service. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding service issues or delays. Inspect bulk materials to ensure compliance with Summit Waste guidelines and report any hazardous or non-compliant items. Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment; report any mechanical issues or safety concerns. Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the truck and work area. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or required based on vehicle operated). Previous experience in waste management, manual labor, or truck operation preferred. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly and work in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and safety. Good communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

Physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Early morning shifts and possible overtime or weekend work. Exposure to unpleasant odors, refuse materials, and potential hazards.
