FUNCTION
Primarily responsible for overseeing the operation and compliance of our offal screening, DAF, sludge production/dewatering, and chemical mixing/injection system. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Monitors and operates offal equipment and machinery such as tumble screens, augers, pumps, motors, dewatering equipment, compressors, chemical feed equipment, etc.
Observes the fill level on trailers and tankers
Drives jockey truck to move full and empty trailers and tankers
Monitors mechanical waste water equipment such as meters, pumps, motors, electrical, pivots, etc.
Measures and monitors waste water chemicals such as santiquan, polymer, and caustics. Washing soaps, etc.
Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for assigned work area, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds (i.e. walls and ceiling in receiving area, outside offal area, offal hole near open top, etc.)
Works with third party drivers to coordinate the pick-up and delivery times of loaded and empty trailers and tankers
Bail and compact cardboard as requested
Performs other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Safety & Environmental Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
Experience with pumps, valves, and irrigation systems.
Must be able to drive a tractor or ability to learn (good driving record and valid GA driver license required)
Strong mechanical knowledge and experience required
Must be able to drive jockey truck to move offal trailers and tankers.
Must have the ability to work alone, use good judgment and make decisions.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relative poultry industry experience.
Basic math functions and skills.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs. (daily).
Walks inside and outside environment on a daily basis (1-5 miles per day).
Frequently stoops, kneels, crawls, and bends.
Must have good visual skills including the ability to see and distinguish colors.
Must have good listening skills.
Climbs stairs daily and occasionally climbs ladders. Must have the ability to work daily on elevated structures.
Constantly subject to work in inclement weather conditions such as extremely wet, cold and hot environments.
Frequently talks and receives auditory information from using two-way radios.
Ability to work in an environment with strong and foul odors. Must use smelling senses to distinguish irregular odors.
