Sanitation Technician

Shift Position Overview:
The Sanitation Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. This position involves working primarily on the production floor, where you will be responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining various areas as outlined in the Master Sanitation Schedule. 10% Custodial duties / 90% Environmental Cleaner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Following GFSI standards for cleaning food facilities.
Janitorial Duties:
Conduct routine common area cleaning and restocking supplies in restrooms, breakrooms, office areas, and employee entrance routes. Cleaning can include toilets, sinks, walls, floors, dumping garbage, and refilling toiletries. Ensuring all hand washing and GMP stations are stocked. Ensuring all cleaning supplies and equipment are well-maintained and stored properly.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Thoroughly clean and sanitize production areas, including floors, walls, and drains, following the Master Sanitation Schedule. Use appropriate cleaning agents and sanitizers to ensure all surfaces are contaminant-free and meet food safety standards.
Team collaboration:
Collaborate with production staff and other team members to schedule cleaning tasks without disrupting production operations. Participate in sanitation audits and inspections as required. Operating mobile foaming units and hot hoses. Chemical handling
- Industrial-style detergents and sanitizers.
Drain sanitation is part of the Master Sanitation Schedule. It includes foaming, scrubbing, debris removal, rinsing, and sanitizing. Use proper tools for tasks—Follow the color code policy (Plant equipment usage) — Forklift training may be needed — Aerial lift training may be needed. Overhead cleaning of pipes, buildings, Vessels, and equipment. As part of MSS, maintaining yellow employee walkways, rails, and floors with the use of a floor scrubber (walk behind and drivable)

Any and all duties assigned by supervision. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Those with experience in Industrial sanitation work experience preferred, but not required. General knowledge of chemical safety and chemical handling is preferred. Experience working with forklifts and aerial lifts is preferred, but not required. Must be detail-oriented and able to stay on task with good time management. Good self-management skills are important as you will be working independently on day-to-day tasks. Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices is a plus. (Training will be given) Ability to operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely.

Working Conditions:
Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
