Maryville, TN Job Details Full-time From $14.74 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Employee assistance program Vision insurance Employee discount Paid sick time Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver’s License Entry level Full Job Description Under general supervision of the Highway Superintendent, the Recycle Center Operator assists the public with disposal of recyclable materials, coordinates material removal with contracted waste companies, and maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the County recycling facility. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Opens and closes facility as scheduled; Monitors compactor to ensure only approved material is placed in bins; Operate compactor as needed; Report any malfunctions and needed repairs of equipment; Schedule pickups with the contractor of full bins for replacement; Ensures facility is clean and neat; Assist citizens in unloading recyclables as needed; and Performs other duties as assigned. It is mandatory for Recycle Center Operator to: Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools; Ability to organize, and communicate effectively; Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; and Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member; Propensity to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs; Continuously maintain tactful and professional conversations with others; and Bolster and sustain a positive, professional demeanor with citizens, colleagues, elected officials, and other agencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

High School Diploma; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating industrial recycling equipment, manual and power tools, sweeping, stooping, and lifting. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern industrial warehouse and outside in all weather conditions.
