POSITION SUMMARY

Offers bilingual Spanish and English support for direct services and support to survivors in shelter and empowers them to best cope with and ultimately end the violence and abuse in their families. Area maintenance and cleaning is necessary along with regular dorm checks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Service:

60%

  • Coordinate with Safelight direct service providers, including those for Spanish speaking clients. Participate in professional collaborations for the best interest of survivors and the community. Maintain knowledge of local community resources and ensures clients can access needed services via on-site service provision and community providers.
  • Serve as a client advocate to intercede on behalf of client to ensure equity and appropriate services.
  • Ensure client needs are met, activities are monitored, and that proper interventions are utilized such as access to linens, personal care items, etc.
  • Client intakes as needed.
  • Hotline support as needed.
  • Ensure that all contacts with survivors and all appropriate follow policy and procedures for safety and confidentiality.
  • Evening hours and occasional weekend hours are sometimes required. The flexibility to work occasional extra hours at nights and/or weekends to meet with clients that are unavailable during the day and/or to complete assignments.
  • Support with Trainings and Outreach activities as needed.
  • Hospital/SANE exam accompaniment support as required.
  • Support for Pathways/Camp Hope America as required.
Shelter Safety and Operations:

25%

  • Monitor areas to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with established company policies, legal and regulatory requirements, audit standards and guidelines.
  • Daily logs required for each shift.
  • Oversee the 24-hour crisis line, cameras/security system, and door entry.
  • Notify direct supervisor and/or appropriate staff when situations require follow-up interventions including maintenance needs.
  • Reports serious, adverse incidents to direct supervisor and completes required documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures for Safelight and this program. Ensure the program space is maintained and stocked to provide safe and secure programming following policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of local community resources and ensures clients can access needed services via on-site service provision and community providers.
  • Check Email/Phone minimum twice on work scheduled days for follow up calls and coordination of staff and partners as needed.
  • Attends required meetings including leadership meeting, treatment team, all staff trainings/meetings, supervision, partner coordinated meetings, etc.
  • Resource assessment and development, with referrals to other agencies as needed.
Record Keeping and Tracking:

15%

  • Information about abusers is maintained in the computer client data system. Ensure that client records are maintained and that services are documented.
  • Use client database (Osnium) to ensure that client records are maintained and that services are documented per program requirements.
  • Provide monthly reports and as requested to monitor program requirements and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the agency and those it serves.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Maintains an understanding of best practices serving those who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, elder abuse, and child abuse.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to write case notes for documentation and use client database as required.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing following HR policies and laws
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with attention to maintaining appropriate boundaries and ethics.
  • Ability to think independently, work as a team, and to make ethical decisions.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to problem solve utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport with staff and clients.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, and sit for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds without assistance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment.
  • Professional license upkeep as required per program.
