With locations in Midtown Manhattan and Montclair, NJ, L’Alliance New York is a multi-disciplinary educational and cultural non-profit organization offering dynamic French language instruction and bold, diverse programming in the arts and humanities. As the largest French language center in the tri-state area—with over 6,000 enrollments annually—our Language Center offers classes for toddlers to adults, from complete beginners to native speakers. We are also proud to host a French immersion preschool, an extensive French Library, and year-round cultural events, ranging from cinema, performing arts, and visual arts to talks, panels, and social gatherings. Position Summary The Student Services Manager plays a key role in shaping a welcoming, high-quality experience for every student who walks through our doors or connects with us online. This person will lead customer service operations for the Language Center, manage two Operations Assistants, and serve as a vital link between students, staff, and programs. Key Responsibilities Customer Service Leadership
- Set the tone for outstanding customer service in alignment with L’Alliance New York’s values and style.
- Supervise and mentor two Operations Assistants, who serve as the first point of contact for students (in person, by phone, and via email).
- Handle escalated student concerns with empathy, professionalism, and clear solutions.
- Step in at reception during high-volume times or staff absences. Support for Group Classes
- Oversee all communications related to group classes and camps (e.g., cancellations, confirmations, room changes), in coordination with the Adult and Youth Programs teams.
- Manage and communicate any changes to group class schedules, including the organization of make-up sessions as needed.
- Assign group classes to classrooms and ensure all logistical needs are met to support a smooth learning experience. Data Analysis & Process Improvement
- Monitor and optimize student registration and class enrollment workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Collect and analyze student feedback to continuously enhance the Language Center’s services and overall experience.
- Ensure student records and data are maintained accurately and in compliance with privacy regulations; prepare regular reports on student service metrics (enrollment, satisfaction, inquiries) for the Language Center leadership.
