Position Overview:
Front End Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth, efficient, and customer-friendly operations throughout the Front End department. This role directly supports the Front End Manager and oversees a team of 70 to 120+ team members during peak seasons. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a focus on team engagement, operational excellence, and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
Your day-to-day:
+ Supervise and support Front End Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives, Cashier Trainers, Cashiers, and Baggers + Respond to and resolve register or customer service issues in real-time + Coordinate special events for customers throughout the year + Support all daily functions across Front End operations, including coverage for key roles when needed + Partner in the hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and recognition of Front End team members + Lead, coach, and develop team members through ongoing training, feedback, and performance management + Ensure schedules are created and published in the HRIS system at least two weeks in advance + Prepare revised cashier schedules for holidays to ensure coverage is in line with expected sales volume + Oversee weekly timesheet accuracy and payroll preparation + Coordinate and participate in department meetings and leadership strategy sessions + Address disciplinary issues in a timely fashion + Participate in Safety Committee meetings and ensure appropriate representation + Monitor department cleanliness, safety standards, and compliance with local health and labor laws + Any other projects, as needed
Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred + 1 to 3 years of supervisory or management experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service + Excellent customer service skills + Excellent computer skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, the HRIS system, item maintenance system, and STCR for registers + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills + Strong organizational and time-management abilities + Ability to lead and inspire large teams while upholding company policies and expectations + Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions:
+ Requires frequent walking and standing with occasional lifting, up to 30 pounds + Requires occasional repetitive motion of arms and hands
