Full Job Description Summary:

Our award-winning client is seeking a Customer Service Manager to join their team. We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic Customer Service Manager to lead our customer service department. In this critical role, you’ll oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional service delivery, and manage key functions including billing, payment processing, and collections. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in a public utility setting, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of customer service professionals, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to policies.
  • Oversee all aspects of customer accounts, including new account setup, accurate billing, efficient payment processing, and effective debt collection strategies.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and concerns with professionalism and adherence to established guidelines.
  • Develop and implement staffing schedules and resource allocation to meet service demands.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and annual budget.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of customer service staff.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling procedures, cash drawer balancing, and timely bank deposits.
  • Collaborate with the Fiscal Officer on audits and prepare comprehensive customer service, billing, and collections reports for management and the Board of Commissioners.
Required Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in customer service, billing, and cash accounting, including at least two (2) years of supervisory and administrative responsibilities within a public utility (water, wastewater, electric, or gas).
  • This experience is required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance, public administration, public relations, or a related field is a plus.
