SUMMARY OF POSITION
Support and train staff with birthdays on Zoo property. Detailing, set up, and execution of the birthdays and supervising the day-of birthday support team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as lead day-of contact on a rotating schedule for birthday groups at the Zoo. Follow detailed BEO set up instructions and direct day-of birthday team. Schedule and Troubleshoot developments throughout birthdays including preliminary customer service decisions. Office work to include prior day prep- distributing birthday supplies, assisting with inventory, answering birthday related phone calls/questions, and fielding impromptu birthday requests. Train incoming staff to follow proper procedures and to demonstrate an excellent level of customer service. Train on Wild Ambassador handling for educational programs during birthdays. Work with other departments to execute a positive and educational guest experience. Support other departments during heavy attendance days as needed. Strive for the continual process of improvement in guest experience. Maintain safety and health standards. Promote and maintain a team oriented, friendly atmosphere. Ensure events have a positive experience. Demonstrate core values and encourage them in Event Experience team. Make scheduling decisions as business and weather dictates. Responsible for accuracy and maintenance of birthday records. Assist in all other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
A combination of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with emphasis on customer service. Supervisory experience in customer service environment. Must be able to navigate operations software. Must demonstrate team spirit and support a friendly, efficient work force. Works well both in team environment and independently. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment. Must be able to supervise staff in lead position. Must have flexible schedule including weekends and some nights. WORKING CONDITIONS
As an employee of Zoo Knoxville, you must possess English communication skills as well as the ability to communicate using a 2-way radio, email and telephone. The position hours vary depending on business needs and will require weekend and some holiday shifts. Depending on the specific tasks, this position will be required to work within close proximity of exotic and domestic animals and must be aware that there are dangers inherent in working under those conditions.
