JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE

Customer Service Representative

JOB SUMMARY

Wave Transit Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are an important link between the public, other organizations, and Wave Transit. CSRs maintain the customer service desks at each transfer station and provide accurate and effective information and service to customers, staff, and other organizations (i.e. Greyhound Lines, Inc.). A pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful manner is essential in all dealings with the public and the staff.

Part-Time, up to 30 hours per week Must be available during all hours that Wave Transit buses are operating Must be available during disaster and emergency events

HIRING RANGE

$16.73 – $19.80 hourly

REPORTS TO

Public Relations Manager

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers and guests entering Wave Transit facilities Answer Wave Transit’s main phone and direct calls throughout the agency Assist callers and visitors with trip planning using maps, schedules, and online tools Answer customer questions about services, programs, fares, etc., including those provided by contractors when relevant Receive and report customer complaints and other feedback; Escalate urgent issues and complaints when necessary Handle cash and credit/debit card transactions for pass sales Deliver accurate information to customers with minimal wait Educate customers on how to navigate the transit system in person and over the phone; Provide or assist staff with ‘Travel Training’ onboard a bus or transit vehicle Assist with maintaining clean and well-stocked facilities through daily cleaning tasks, replenishing paper products, and managing inventory of printed materials Demonstrates good judgement in all interactions and tasks Live locally and be familiar Wilmington and the surrounding area Engage all people kindly and respectfully; Strive to be helpful to others; Act in good faith Preferred – Speak Spanish fluently; Provide customer service bilingually Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

Fluent in English; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing with customers, staff, and guests

Multitasking:

Ability to manage calls, pass sales, and other tasks simultaneously Proficient in basic math and timekeeping for pass sales and planning transit trips Proficient and comfortable using the internet and computers, including Microsoft products

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent Ability to speak, read, and write English at the level necessary to determine and convey travel information to customers A minimum of two (2) years verifiable employment in customer relations Must possess valid North Carolina Driver License Pre-employment background check and drug screen required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Typically requires talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions, including keyboard entries Sedentary to light work: Exerting up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Wave Transit Customer Senior Service Representatives may be required to assist in performing other administrative duties as well as assist in operational tasks within the Authority.
