Patient Access Services, Representative – Training (Flex schedule) 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 240 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, NY 11968 Patient Access Services, Representative – Training (Flex schedule) Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Patient Access Services in a hospital setting encompasses many different roles and responsibilities. It is one of the most important and concentrated areas in healthcare. We are responsible for the delivery of the critical components of the revenue cycle, as well as keeping the hospital compliant with the many regulatory agencies, maintaining patient safety through correct patient identification practices and providing extraordinary customer service skills in situations that are often difficult.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Trainer / Training Representative will be responsible for conducting training throughout Patient Access Services, across all sub-departments, as well as other hospital departments when necessary. Working with the Training & Communication Team Lead, the Representative will concentrate on delivering training for new processes and regulatory curriculum to all staff. The Representative will assist with onboarding orientation education as well as the electronic education platform. This position will focus on conducting one-on-one training, group training, and will be required to travel to satellite facilities to provide training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in performance improvement activities, ensures compliance of all work-related activities, and assists with reporting of statistics. Collaborates with the Patient Access Leadership to identify training needs, to design, prepare, and order training materials. Assists with on-boarding new and internal staff for all Patient Access Services sub-departments. Conducts Annual Education across Patient Access Services sub-departments through the electronic education platform and in-person workshops or one-on-one training sessions when necessary. Conducts training sessions hospital-wide for utilizing communication system and mobile application and must be accommodating all shifts and locations across the organization. Utilizes many disparate systems and maintains applications at the user and administrative level. Has knowledge of electronic education platform database of staff, modules, and assignments. Collaborates with Patient Access Leadership on new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, and quality of training methodologies. Demonstrates the ability to utilize data retrieval insurance eligibility systems. Coordinates with Patient Access Leadership on techniques and protocols for emergency response and mitigation throughout Patient Access Services. Collaborates with other departments to ensure the needs of the patient and department are met. Abides by documentation guidelines consistently. Adheres to all company and department policies and procedures in confidentiality, regulatory or contractual mandates and HR policy. Practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with hospital policies and HIPAA requirements. Complies with departmental dress code and maintains a neat appearance. Performs other department specific duties as deemed appropriate by Patient Access Leadership.
REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years’ experience with face-to-face patient and physician customer service, related to healthcare required. One (1) year of direct in-depth staff training experience required. Customer service and support skills required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills required. Must possess quantitative analytical skills and computer savviness including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including knowledge of external provider web portals. Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, ensuring high-quality results and minimizing errors. Must be able to multitask in a high stress fast-paced environment. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self-motivation and initiative with strong time management skills to meet deadlines. Possesses comprehensive knowledge to help in assisting patients in understanding medical insurance benefits.

Associate’s degree or Current
NYS DOH EMT
strongly preferred. CPR Instructor strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged periods of standing, walking and sitting. Commuting to hospital and offsite facilities required. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Possible exposure to various illnesses and diseases. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services• Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen• Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
