Job Summary:

The Career and Student Services Advisor supports students throughout their entire enrollment in various aspects of their training program. The Advisor assists students in navigating their way through school policy, procedures, course requirements, and resources to successfully complete their program and become gainfully employed in the field in which they have been trained. The Career and Student Services Advisor sustains proactive, consistent, timely, and respectful communication with students. The Career and Student Services Advisor acts in the students’ best interest and provides them with all relevant information, options, and resources. ATC is a post-secondary institution that combines academic learning with practical job-related skills training. ATC students are high school graduates or GED recipients who are tech-smart, mechanically driven, and dedicated to building their automotive expertise. Essential Functions:

Maintain consistent communication with students Notify students of important dates & critical information Provide students with all necessary information and potential options to make well-informed decisions about their career path Counsel and assist students with Web-registration Track student progression and program attendance requirements Troubleshoot student issues (e.g. life situations) and provide students with appropriate advisement or referrals; identify at risk students to ensure resources are provided, and meet to identify their needs Develop full-time and part-time job opportunities; facilitate career fairs and on-campus interviews with potential employers for students Collect and analyze occupational, educational, and economic information for use in job placement Survey employers for skill needs, software utilization, and job trends Maintain all necessary graduate documentation including hiring information Develop and maintain employer relationships Monitor and record students’ daily attendance Improve student retention by monitoring student performance, analyzing problem areas, prescribing solutions and conducting intervention activities and processes Direct assistance for students in obtaining information, contact and resolution in the areas of transportation, housing, childcare, study/tutoring services, and overall well-being Keeping student records current and providing documented information as appropriate to faculty to ensure student success Liaison to faculty and administration regarding student progress or lack of Providing for a positive student experience Participate in school sponsored events and activities Submission of timely and accurate reports

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, higher ed or related field Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, career counseling or related field Experience in higher education, working knowledge of academic programs Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to FERPA and other school policies related to student privacy Strong organizational & project management skills, superior attention to detail Excellent customer service & helpful demeanor Demonstrated success in finding appropriate solutions and taking initiative Must be available to work one evening a week Possess the ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to multi-task
