OurCustomer Services team seeks a procurement leader to transform ourstrategic sourcing approach for a backlog of multi billion USD. Asthe transportation sector undergoes unprecedented growth andtechnological transformation, you’ll have the opportunity to shapethe future of rail services procurement while collaborating withour dynamic global procurement network. Your primary responsibility will be to lead all aspects of categorymanagement for our Customer Services Business Unit in NorthAmerica. This strategic leadership role involves developingforward-thinking category strategies, driving supplier innovation,and ensuring sustainable value creation across our supply chain.
Most importantly, you will mentor and lead your team of 8 categorymanagers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuousimprovement while addressing the challenges of our expandingbusiness portfolio.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement category strategies that align withbusiness objectives in the US and Canada and drive value creationacross various categories including rolling stock maintenance,spares, software, and infrastructure Lead business-aligned negotiation strategies with majorsuppliers and lead strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver costsavings, risk mitigation, sustainability goals, and supplierenabled innovation Grow a high-performance team of 8 category managers and providetraining on second/in-sourcing programs Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams toimplement innovative cost reduction strategies while maintaining orimproving quality and performance Spearhead AI use case implementation in strategic procurementteams to enhance decision-making, automate routine tasks, andidentify optimization opportunities Drive continuous improvement within the category managementfunction and pioneer the integration of AI enabled technologiesinto procurement processes specific to the rail industry Monitor supply market conditions and drive productivityimprovements through cost & value engineering, and strategicimplementation of digital and AI technologies Identify and handle procurement risks, opportunities, potentialchanges, and claims throughout the service lifecycle Lead cross-functional cost-out initiatives in our servicebacklog, identifying opportunities for standardization, processoptimization, and value creation Serve as a key strategic partner to the CS business unitleadership team, translating business objectives into actionablecategory strategies To excel in this role, you should have: Over 10 years of experience as a Procurement Professional, withat least 5 years of leadership experience in category managementand the ability to travel approximately 30% Proven track record of delivering significant business impactthrough strategic procurement initiatives incl. second sourcing,design to cost, cost and value engineering Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional cost reductioninitiatives and hands-on knowledge of the US domestic rail servicemarkets Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability toquickly establish trust and confidence International experience in collaboration and cross-functionalskills Knowledge of AI applications in procurement and supply chainmanagement as well as the ambition to learn and quickly adapt Advanced negotiation skills and commercial acumen While we appreciate all applications we receive, we advise thatonly candidates under consideration will be contacted. The salary range for this position in Lexington, NC, is$172,800-$233,800, and the annual incentive is 20% of the basesalary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budgetand the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, andqualifications.
