Position Description Advertised Job Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Immigration Services, the Immigration Services Advisor for the Office of International Student and Scholar Support provides intermediate-level advising on employment-based immigration matters for individuals in the F-1 and J-1 programs. Also serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 2 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for Designated School Official duties. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree Prior experience with F-1 and J-1 non-immigrant student regulations Prior experience working in an International Student Office and/or as a Designated School Official Prior experience with SEVIS government system as a Designated School Official or Alternate Responsible Officer Prior experience in the culture-crossing process and/or an understanding of the dynamics of cultural adjustment Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of F-1 and J-1 non-immigrant student regulations Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and web page creation and maintenance. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Serve as direct point of contact for USC Regional Campuses that require assistance with employment-based immigration matters, including but not limited to F-1 OPT employment, J-2 employment, TN employment, H-1B employment, and academic-scientific International Affiliate Appointments.
