$18.50/hour About West Knox Utility District West Knox Utility District is a water and sewer provider in the northwest portion of Knox County, Tennessee, serving nearly 80,000 residents with a dedicated team of approximately 100 employees. Position Summary West Knox Utility District is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Customer Service Representative to join our Customer Service Department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This position involves daily customer interactions, payment processing, and administrative support. Essential Job Functions The following essential functions are required to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation: Greet and assist customers at the service window and over the phone. Collect and process payments for water, sewer, and miscellaneous services. Prepare and balance daily cash reports and perform bank deposits. Open and distribute incoming mail, record payments in billing software. Initiate new customer accounts, prepare contracts, and issue service orders. Prepare and maintain reports, receipts, and other necessary documentation. Address customer inquiries, provide information, and escalate issues as needed. Enter and track service orders related to new service, leaks, pressure or quality issues, new meters, and inspections. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Assist with processing automated bank drafts and returned check collections. Support billing preparation and adjustments. Dispatch service personnel and relay emergency locates. Perform general administrative tasks including correspondence, copying, and filing. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; business or office-related training preferred. Minimum 2 years of customer service or clerical experience, preferably in a utility or billing environment. Bilingual skills a plus. Proficiency with Windows-based software, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment. Strong numerical and basic bookkeeping skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay organized, and remain detail focused. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and interact professionally with customers. Work Environment A typical office environment with climate control and standard lighting.

Regular business hours:

8:00 am -4:30 pm Physical Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Visual acuity and hearing ability are necessary for interacting with customers and staff. Ability to lift to 25 lbs. occasionally.
