Overview:
The Arts In Medicine (AIM) program at Huntsville Hospital Health System helps adult and pediatric patients and families to cope with hospitalization through the expressive arts to enhance the healthcare experience. The mid level Artist-in-Residence is an artist with more than five years experience. The AIR will develop creative arts programming designed to encourage creativity. The main focus of the AIR will be to bring the creative arts to patients, family members and staff through one-on-one and group contact.
Qualifications:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Art or demonstrate professional artistic ability Knowledge and expertise in a chosen art form Understanding of the benefits of creative engagement Understanding that not everyone wants to participate in the creative process A genuine interest in people and a caring attitude Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults from diverse backgrounds and disciplines Passion for sharing and teaching art and art-making Sensitivity to cultural values Flexibility Ability to work independently Ability to build relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
