Creative Director / Fabrication Manager About Fantasy Lab Studios At Fantasy Lab Studios, we design and fabricate immersive environments, oversized props, and fantastical decor for themed events, brand activations, and permanent installations. From showroom centerpieces to enchanted forest scenes, our team transforms spaces into unforgettable visual stories. Position Overview We’re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Sculpture Painter to help bring our foam sculptures to life. While most of the carving will be handled by our CNC router, you will be responsible for detailing, hard coating, and painting these pieces to match creative concepts with realism, texture, and depth. Key Responsibilities Apply protective hard coat finishes (e.g., polyurea, Styroplast, or brush-on coatings) to foam sculptures. Sand, prep, and touch up CNC-carved foam pieces. Paint sculptures using base coats, scenic techniques, airbrushing, and fine detail work. Add visual texture and weathering, shading, or character to props and scenic elements. Assist with light sculpting or cleanup on foam when needed. Collaborate with creative leads to match reference images and design intentions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of painting and coating workspace. Follow safety protocols and use PPE when working with coatings and paints. Qualifications Prior experience in theatrical painting, prop painting, sculpture finishing , or scenic art preferred. Experience with fiberglass application is a plus. Familiarity with foam materials (EPS/XPS) and how they react to paint, coating, and sanding. Experience applying protective hard coats (spray or brush-on). Strong sense of color, shading, and texture — must be able to paint realistic or fantastical finishes.
Bonus:
Basic sculpting experience (hot wire, sanding, cleanup) Ability to lift and handle large, lightweight foam pieces. Comfortable working in a warehouse/fabrication shop environment. Reliable, communicative, and collaborative team member.
