The Senior Concept Artist & Illustrator for Disney Live Entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort collaborates on live entertainment concepts with the art of visual storytelling via Illustration, fine art, and graphic design. This dynamic art studio team has helped create some of the most spectacular visual storytelling for some of the world’s greatest Characters and the amazing worlds they live in. This is a full-time salaried role that will report to the Manager-Art Studio. What You Will Do
Demonstrate superior visual storytelling skills using a wide variety of visual methods – quick sketch, storyboards, mood boards, environments, character sketches, full illustration, and fine art digital painting
Work collaboratively with internal partners such as Art Directors, Show Directors, Walt Disney Imagineering partners, Marketing partners, etc. Work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision Support design efforts for non-entertainment partners from various lines of business across the company
Establish, build, and maintain open relationships based on trust and partnering with key clients and supporting departments Provide input on the labor required to complete a project Work on all levels of projects from intimate to spectacular in scale Assist in tasking incoming projects, determining which artists are available and best suited Mentor others on the team, setting the standard for professionalism and artistic achievement Required Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of work in a design, fine arts, or animation field Superior hand drawing & sketching abilities Excellent command of a variety of art styles, from line art to full illustration Superior knowledge of Disney characters, ensuring that all character artwork is on-model and brand-appropriate
Experience working with other artists in a mentorship capacity
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) Outstanding ability to stay current with industry trends
Willingness to work flexible hours – nights, weekends, holidays
Preferred Qualifications
Sculpting experience using 2D and 3D design tools Experience in animation and character design Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, visual arts, graphic arts, or the equivalent
