We’re looking to hire a Freelance Technical Artist, Unity for a fully remote, 6-month contract role with a leading sports technology company. In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize art assets, create compelling real-time effects, and streamline production workflows within Unity projects across any U.S. time zone. Freelance Technical Artist, Unity Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement art assets in Unity projects.
- Optimize art assets and shaders for performance in a Windows desktop environment.
- Create and implement visual effects, including particle systems, UI animations, and a mix of baked and dynamic lighting systems for Unity scenes.
- Assist in developing tools and pipelines to streamline art-production workflows.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to art-asset integration and performance.
Freelance Technical Artist, Unity Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of 3D graphics principles, including modeling, texturing, lighting, animating, and rendering.
- Proficiency in at least one 3D software package (Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, etc.).
- Experience with shader programming and material creation in Unity.
- Basic understanding of scripting languages such as Python or C#.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience creating real-time VFX for Unity.
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
