GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The role of the 3D Technical Artist is to enhance the accuracy and realism of 3D scans within our 3D Commerce platform. The candidate will work closely with our external 3D Teams to help diagnose issues, recommend solutions, and create documentation for key processes that ensure results can be achieved in a high-volume production setting. The ideal candidate must be very well-rounded in 3D with an understanding of PBR workflows, real-time rendering, and multiple 3D programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and advise on 3D scan quality/accuracy compared to physical product. Make geometry/mesh and material adjustments to 3D models. Write detailed documentation around 3D exports, fixes, and model creation. Determine best practices for exporting and viewing 3D scans. Analyze material/textures/shaders to ensure they are compatible with established graphic styles and lighting methods as well as post-processing techniques. Assist with developing and documenting client specific lighting requirements.

Requirements Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent, an Associate’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

Mid-level,4-6 years working experience, high-volume environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Expert in Maya, 3DS Max, ZBrush, Blender, and Adobe Substance Painter/Designer. Expert in PBR material creation and modeling. Mastery of UV mapping. Understanding of manipulation of meshes, rendering, and basic lighting. Experience in a full digital art content creation pipeline: (high and low-poly modeling, UV mapping, unwrapping, baking, texturing, atlasing). Strong written communication and documentation skills. Knowledge of AI platforms for contextualizing 3D into environments Portfolio with examples of professional work (e.g. art, 3D models, scripts, tools, simulations, etc.) General understanding of still photography principles, equipment, and lighting techniques. (a plus, not required) Experience with Keyshot, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, etc. Unreal, Unity or game engine optimization equivalent experience. Experience with rigging and animating.
