What You’ll Do
As a Technical Animator for our game, you will play a crucial role in solving creature, character, and asset-related challenges while helping optimize the character implementation pipeline. Some content here will be fully rigged and animated in Unreal Engine. You will help push the tools forward, help develop new workflows, and shape future engine development. Joining this team means you’re motivated to seek solutions to problems and work with other artists to make positive changes to improve character creation in Unreal Engine. The heart of this role is rigging and animation in Epic’s core projects.
In this role, you will
Rig characters, creatures, and other assets in Control Rig as well as Maya
Set up assets in Unreal Engine 5, including physics and animation blueprints
Work closely with animators, character artists, asset implementers, and other technical artists to ensure a smooth delivery of high-quality assets
What we’re looking for
Extensive experience rigging characters in Maya or Control Rig
A portfolio demonstrating rigging for a range of characters, bipeds, and creatures
Familiarity with the Unreal Engine’s Control Rig
Exceptional problem-solving ability with strong written communication and teamwork skills
Experience with AAA game development, preferably on a large team using an established game engine (internal or commercial), ideally with Unreal Engine
Self-motivation, a strong work ethic, a drive to learn more and improve skills, and the ability to work independently
Python programming experience is a plus
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA)

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
California Base Pay Range
$129,273—$189,600 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$117,521—$172,365 USD
