JOB SUMMARY

The Classroom Technology Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and operating multi-media audio and visual equipment in classrooms and other areas where student instruction takes place.
This position delivers supplemental equipment for classes and/or special events and assures that the equipment is set up properly.
This position also performs operation and maintenance of audio-visual equipment used to support a wide variety of instructional methods and techniques.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS
  • Perform intermediate level monitoring, programming, and analysis work involving the application of Crestron programming language in technology equipped spaces on campus.
  • Debug and test systems.
  • Provide programming and firmware updates as needed.
  • Assists with the planning, overseeing and installation of audio and video equipment in classroom spaces to include projectors, computers, cameras and Crestron equipment.
  • Maintain instructional equipment such as projectors, mixers, amplifiers, VCRs, DVD players, doc cams, and other associated equipment.
  • Maintenance including troubleshooting, cleaning filters, changing projection bulbs, using interface software to monitor equipment connections, connecting/replacing cables, adjusting audio/video output quality, software upgrades, etc.
  • Respond to calls for assistance from either classroom or the support tickets that come in.
  • Document and resolve support tickets related to classroom support.
  • Provide intermediate level training and support for faculty, students, and staff using classroom equipment.
  • May assist in the supervision of part time staff.
  • Order and receive parts and materials from vendors.
  • Assist with annual inventory inspection.
  • Work in Astra and with Astra administrator to schedule classrooms for maintenance.
  • Drive university vehicle to and from work site as required.
  • Participate in researching new classroom multi-media equipment.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of support of audio/video technology in an IT organization.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • A combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field.

  • Completed Crestron

Foundations of Crestron Programming and CTI-SG Smart Graphics.
