Events Technology Specialist 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 447 College Dr, Sylva, NC 28779 Statement of Primary Purpose This position will coordinate internal and external groups using technology in the college’s public facilities. It will also support and install instructional technology, incorporate technology use in the classroom environment, and implement new technologies in response to needs from instruction and learning. Additionally, the person holding this position will be responsible for keeping up with emerging technologies which could be used in the AV and instructional environment. Classification Technical Support, Full-time, non-exempt staff, Essential Functions and Responsibilities Coordinate events requests for the college to include internal and external requesters with the initial contact, approval workflow, communications with person(s) of contact; room configuration, and AV technology needs Liaison for event spaces, meeting individuals & groups, troubleshooting their needs, along with our internal events with semester timelines, emails, & events calendar postings Provide customer service as an essential part of keeping our community & internal events running smoothly Operate and maintain Myers Auditorium and Burrell Conference Center and all the equipment assigned to each and facilitate events to include setup of tables and chairs Operate and maintain Slagle Board Room A/V equipment Participate in key college events such as commencement, career workshops, orientation, lectures and student events Provide A/V control systems maintenance and integration systems, specifically Extron and Crestron. Install and support Google Meet hardware Manage digital signage (RISE displays) where applicable Provide technical and administrative support as needed for instructional technologies Recommend, consult, and assist faculty and staff on the use of educational technologies Provide technical support to end users of complex educational technology Additional Duties and Responsibilities Complete certified Crestron training online Team member on standby for classroom, and conference room problems Assist with the installation and maintenance of instructional technologies Help with other PC and printer support as needed Minimum Qualifications Education A.A.S. degree in related field. Knowledge and Skills Working knowledge of: Verbal and Written Communications Sound and lighting systems Video projectors Video production Digital Video Web Conferencing Lecture Capture Google Workspace & Meet Hardware Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 35 pounds Licensing Requirement Valid NC drivers’ license Working Conditions and Environment Normal workday, usually 8am – 5pm, Monday through Thursday and 8am-12p on Friday. Some evenings/nights, Saturdays and Sundays as needed with coordination. Typical campus environment. Equipment Operation Sound and lighting equipment, digital video, and still cameras.
