Audio Visual Technician Activu Corporation – 3.3 Rockaway, NJ Job Details Full-time $28 – $30 an hour 3 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Outlook Mid-level Microsoft Office Driver’s License Computer networking IT Power tools Cabling 2 years Communication skills Full Job Description AV Technicians are at the core of the installation team and are responsible for preparing, organizing, and installing Video Wall Display equipment at project sites across the country. In addition to the physical installation of the displays, Technicians are tasked with the installation of other system components like ceiling loudspeakers and microphones, equipment racks, and cable pulls and terminations. Technicians will often travel with a crew of 2-4 other Activu Operations members, including Site Supervisors and Implementation Engineers, to complete projects with a high level of client satisfaction. Over time and with the right attitude, Technicians will learn valuable skills and knowledge about the industry, which can provide opportunities for growth within Activu.
THIS IS A TRAVEL POSITION
– Travel up to 85% of the time, typically Monday through Friday at a customer site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install Video Wall systems, which commonly include 55″to 80″ LCD display arrays, wall mounts, Cat5/6 and Display Port or HDMI cabling between displays, and power cables. Read and interpret project drawings to ensure equipment is installed to scope Configure display equipment, which often includes physical alignment of the displays, color balance, and signal testing with Activu Implementation Engineers on site. Utilize hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Accurately read and utilize tools such as tape measures and levels to install and calibrate wall mounts and displays. Perform onsite cable termination, most commonly RJ45, Phoenix Block, and SC and LC fiber. Assist with assembling rackmounted system components. Receive equipment shipments sent from the Activu warehouse, offload packaged displays and pallets from trucks, and stage equipment at client sites for installation. Troubleshoot display equipment as needed, including interpreting error codes, determining cable vs. display issues, etc. Assist Implementation Engineers with integration efforts as needed. Complete installation tasks as directed by the Project Manager and/or Site Supervisor. Other Duties as Assigned by Supervisor
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / CERTIFICATIONS
Experience 2+ years working with network and communications cabling or equivalent education in Audiovisual or Information Technology 2+ years performing Audiovisual display and/or VTC installations, with a preference in video wall installation Experience in a Lead Installation role preferred Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s License Specific Skills/Certifications MS Office Suite Mainly Teams and Outlook Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines Maintain positive interactions with colleagues and customers Attention to detail Mechanically and technically inclined, proficient with hand and power tools Ability to work overtime when necessary Secret US Government security clearance preferred AV Industry certifications are always a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical office or active building construction site assembly environment; the majority of time is spent at the installation site as part of the daily routine. Have the ability to stand and lift 50 pounds overhead. Use of 6’to8′ ladders, scaffolding, or mechanical lifts and be comfortable pulling cable or installing equipment on such setups. Pull cable and use tools in spaces such as drop ceilings and raised floors. This is a Travel position that involves consistent weekly trips throughout the U.S., requiring overnight stays.
