Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a well skilled and customer-focused Audio/Visual Specialist & End-User Support Assistant to join our team. This position combines expert knowledge in audio/visual (AV) systems and a strong ability to support end-users in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Hands-on experience with AV technologies, as well as a passion for providing exceptional support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of technology systems. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: +
Audio/Visual Systems Management:
+ Oversee installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AV systems in conference rooms, meeting spaces, and event venues. + Configure and support multimedia equipment including projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, and video conferencing systems. + Ensure AV equipment is properly set up for meetings and events, providing technical assistance during presentations and broadcasts. + Perform regular AV equipment testing and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functionality. + Assist with upgrades, system design, and recommendations for improving AV setups. + End-User Support (Help Desk – our Tier 1 Support): + Provide technical support for end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues related to AV systems, computers, networks, and other tech tools. + Offer on-site and remote support, ensuring timely and effective resolutions to user queries and issues. + Create and maintain user guides, FAQs, and training materials to assist users with common AV and IT issues. + Collaborate with other departments to deliver high-quality tech support tailored to user needs. +
Collaboration & Training:
+ Conduct training sessions for staff on how to effectively use AV equipment and troubleshoot basic issues. + Serve as the go-to expert for troubleshooting AV and IT-related problems, offering hands-on support as needed. + Work closely with internal teams to assess and address technology needs for specific projects, events, or departmental initiatives. +
Documentation & Reporting:
+ Maintain records of AV system configurations, inventory, and service history. + Document issues, resolutions, and recurring problems for continuous improvement. + Provide regular updates to management regarding system performance and upcoming support needs.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications + Associate’s degree in a related field (Audiovisual Communication, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology) Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Audiovisual Communication, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology) + 2+ years of experience working with professional grade audiovisual equipment and/or service desk computing support.
