1432 We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer. This role is critical to ensuring the highest quality viewing experience for NASA streaming content distributed through Enterprise Video Service to include the Akamai CDN. The contractor will proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and report on streaming performance, collaborating closely with the NASA+ team. This opportunity will be located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Key Responsibilities:
Real-time Video and Audio Monitoring:

Continuously monitor live and on-demand video streams for quality assurance, identifying and reporting issues such as:
Playback disruptions (freezing, stuttering, skipping).
Compression artifacts (blockiness, color distortions, audio skips/noise).
Audio/video synchronization discrepancies.
Closed captioning accuracy, synchronization, language correctness, and legibility.

CDN Management and Monitoring:

Assist in the management and configuration of the Web Services Office CDN systems, ensuring optimal delivery of NASA’s web and streaming content.
Conduct operational monitoring of bandwidth utilization for plus.nasa.gov, ensuring allocated bandwidth is sufficient for seamless content delivery.
Monitor the total allocated bandwidth with Akamai, and provide weekly reports on usage to the NASA+ team.

Troubleshooting and Escalation:

Diagnose and troubleshoot streaming issues, escalating complex problems to the NASA+ team for resolution.
Collaborate with the NASA+ team to implement solutions and ensure timely restoration of service.

After-Hours Support:

Provide on-call support for after-hours special event streaming, addressing any issues that may arise.

Technology Research and Analysis:

Conduct ongoing research into current and emerging streaming technologies, including compression codecs, streaming player providers, and network distribution providers.
Provide recommendations to the NASA+ team on technologies that may enhance the quality and efficiency of NASA streaming.

Reporting:

Provide weekly reports on the Akamai bandwidth usage.
Provide reports on any streaming issue trends that are noticed.

Clearance:

Must be able to attain a Public Trust Clearance.
