Job Summary:

Swaybox Studios is seeking a versatile and technically savvy Assistant Creative Technical Director to help support and streamline the production process across the Editorial, Performance, and VFX departments. This role is perfect for a production-focused, technically -minded problem solver who thrives in fast-paced, detail-oriented environments and enjoys wearing multiple hats. This role is an essential bridge between the practical and digital elements that are pieced together during the production at Swaybox. You’ll help manage file structures, organize production data, and assist in problem-solving various ways to achieve the director’s vision, all while helping to maintain any technical, compositing, editorial, and VFX pipelines. You should be extremely comfortable with creative problem solving, collecting / managing data, adapting to new workflows on the fly, and completing various compositing tasks. Key Responsibilities:

Support daily VFX and editorial workflows, including data wrangling, file organization, and version tracking. Assist with basic compositing tasks and VFX shot prep using tools like Adobe After Effects or Nuke.

Provide support in Maya for scene setup, layout adjustments, or technical prep work. Maintain consistent file naming conventions, shot tracking, and handoffs between departments. Act as a flexible support player across departments—able to jump into VFX, editorial, asset prep, performance stages, or QA where needed. Collaborate closely with the Creative Technical Director to maintain efficient, artist-friendly workflows.

Required Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in a VFX, animation, or editorial pipeline support role. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (especially After Effects and Premiere) and working knowledge of Maya and Nuke Solid understanding of compositing, file formats, codecs, and color workflows. Strong organizational skills and comfort working with production tracking tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A detail-oriented mindset with a calm, adaptable attitude in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, or other editorial/finishing tools. Experience with project management or asset tracking tools (e.g., ShotGrid, Ftrack, or custom tools). Scripting experience (e.g., Python, MEL) is a plus. Interest or background in design, storytelling, or motion graphics.
