This role is equal parts visionary and motivator—championing bold, innovative thinking while rallying the creative team to consistently push boundaries and elevate the work. The CD plays a key role in proactively generating fresh, business-driving ideas in close partnership with the extended brand team, including Client Engagement, Insights and Integrated Media. We believe creativity should be catalytic—not reactive. The CD leads the charge in imagining new possibilities across platforms and, when necessary, inventing entirely new ones to meet client needs. This role also helps shape and oversee integrated creative strategies, ensuring all work is aligned with brand goals and built for performance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Creative Director Leadership Serve as a visionary for creative strategy and an innovator for integrated creative solutions and branded content Inspire and elevate creativity; provide a noticeable impact on creative work Continually seek, learn about and share the latest ideas, innovations and communication channels Attract, retain and grow Creative talent for greatest potential Evaluate and assess existing creative talent Implement professional development plans and opportunities for training Recruit Creative talent Set accountability benchmarks for the Creative team for overall agency goals Integration Collaborate with the Wray Ward Studio during ideation and, when appropriate, through execution of work Help procure collaboration with all agency teams Continually assess and implement efficient workflow and creative oversight for quality control measures Business Development Serve as CD for client businesses as assigned Continually focus on Better Performing Work Help identify growth opportunities with client work When solicited, serve as an integral part of the agency’s new business team Contribute Creative POV for the Wray Ward blog Overall Agency Success Attend and participate actively in relevant agency and client meetings Help achieve agency income goals Develop work that receives recognition by industry peers Communication Skills As the leader in the Creative group, the CD will: Communicate in a clear, coherent and professional manner Conduct clear and candid communication with direct reports, motivating positive changes and professional development as needed Listen well and solve problems to achieve the most effective outcome for the client, the team and the agency Develop strong relationships across the agency, specifically with all Directors Motivate team members to stretch their thinking, learn new applicable skill sets and embrace a culture predicated on collaboration with agency teams Possess excellent skills and passion for presenting creative work Leadership Responsibilities Inspire a contagious passion for creative solutions and doing the best work Convey the role of the Creative team agency-wide, building confidence in and understanding of the discipline and offerings Be a team builder and team player, inspiring trust and teamwork among the Creative group/Studio and throughout the agency Model a conscientious, straightforward and dedicated work ethic Respect all equally — internally and externally Passionately uphold the agency brand, culture and values Collaborate among agency teams effectively and efficiently Be accountable for meeting goals and expectations Requirements 10+ years of leadership experience in a creative agency environment Diverse and significant portfolio of creative work Firm understanding of evolving communication channels Proven success in managing and growing talent This job description serves as an overall summary of responsibilities for the position outlined.
