Description of Work Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a difference? DEQ has an open opportunity for a Marine Patrol Administrative Specialist. DMF 60032728 NC08 This Administrative Specialist position primarily provides administrative support for operations in Marine Patrol related to compliance with marine fisheries laws, rules and regulations. Duties include respond to public inquiries by telephone and in person; data entry; prepare reports and spreadsheets; draft and track correspondence; compose meeting minutes; maintain files; format documents, process incoming and outgoing mail; and facilitate the overall day to day activities of the Marine Patrol district office. The administrative assistant is responsible for the computer processing of commercial fishery statistics and other fisheries data. This position will work with data submitted to the Division of Marine Fisheries through electronic submissions or submitted through the completion of coded forms from seafood dealers. This position will also assist the quota monitoring biologist in entering and verifying data into the quota monitoring database. The administrative assistant is required to work closely with the public and will be responsible for helping to train new seafood dealers on how to fill out trip tickets and the rules for the program. This position will also be responsible for completing supply requests and for answering questions about the Trip Ticket Program. The administrative assistant will also work in close coordination with data clerks, port agents, and biologists to review data and make edits as necessary to ensure data accuracy.

The DMF’s jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore.
