Art by Night , and other public exhibits a truly magical experience! The Public Exhibits Associate plays an important role in bringing Brookgreen’s seasonal and year-round exhibits to life. This position is responsible for learning and applying lighting techniques for Nights of a Thousand Candles ,
Summer Light:
Art by Night , and other public displays. The Associate also assists with the installation and maintenance of all electrical lighting and candle displays for these events. In addition to hands-on work with lights and technical equipment, this role offers the opportunity to gain experience with event setup and planning. The Associate will help coordinate and set up public and private meetings and lectures throughout Brookgreen Gardens, collaborating with other departments to determine layout needs and ensure successful events. This is a dynamic, hands-on position that supports both creative and technical aspects of public exhibits, with opportunities to develop new skills and take on increasing responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities Include:
Learning and applying proper lighting techniques for events and exhibits. Safely using ladders, operating a boom lift, and working at heights up to and exceeding 50 feet. Supporting the installation and maintenance of seasonal and permanent lighting elements. Assisting with the coordination and setup of public programs and internal events across the Gardens. Collaborating with other departments on layout, setup, and equipment needs. Working both independently and as part of a team to support Brookgreen’s signature experiences.
Requirements:
Comfortable climbing ladders up to 20 feet. Willingness to be trained to safely and efficiently operate 35′ and 50′ boom lifts. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, bugs, etc.). Willingness to wear hip waders and perform tasks in pools and ponds. Availability for a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, early mornings, and late nights. Able to work independently for extended periods and collaborate effectively with others. Strong communication and customer service skills. Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

The position requires overtime and the ability to work in all types of weather conditions. Availability for a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, early mornings, and late nights, is a must. The ideal candidate is adaptable, eager to learn, and enthusiastic about participating in large-scale, immersive exhibits that bring joy to thousands of visitors. A background check and drug screen are required at the time of hire.
