We offer a variety of services to get a book ready to print, including editing for content and flow; copy editing for grammar, punctuation, and spelling; photography; artistic design; ghost writing; food and prop styling; recipe development, testing, and editing. Our editors offer expert advice throughout the process, with author review and approval given each step of the way. Job Summary As a Book Editor you will manage book projects from start to finish, coordinating all aspects of designing the book. Key Responsibilities
- Work with authors on their vision. Manage a project through all stages of production, acting as liaison between author and the 83 Press editorial and marketing teams.
- Set a production schedule and make sure deadlines are met.
- The job includes scheduling prop stylists and photographers for the book’s cover and content as well as arranging travel for photo shoots.
- Coordinate with the test kitchen teams to develop recipes, test recipes, and style food photography.
- Edit the book for content, flow, factual accuracy, and consistency.
- Coordinate with copy editors to correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation on all content, including recipes.
- Proofread the final manuscript. Read proofs to check alignment, spacing, and color of photos. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in content creation/editing/writing with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent interpersonal and organization skills with an ability to work with authors and internal teams
- Strong presentation skills
- Versatile writing skills
