Associate Director, AP Assessment Graphics College Board

About the Team AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is rapidly expanding its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The cross-functional team consists of professionals with expertise in a variety of domains that are integral to the production of AP Exam content. To support the continued production of high-quality assessments, the AP Program is looking to fill the role of Associate Director, AP Assessment Graphics. About the Opportunity The Associate Director, AP Assessment Graphics will play an integral role in the AP Assessment Production Graphics workstream, producing and delivering AP exam and instructional graphics. You are a skilled, collaborative, and creative individual, with a keen eye for detail and dedication to creating assessment resources that are accurate, accessible, and fair. You have professional experience creating both technical vector graphics and illustrations, prioritize brand consistency, and can clearly and concisely communicate with domain experts and production colleagues to resolve requests and design issues efficiently. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are creative with solutioning on tight timelines. In this role, you will: Create and deliver technically accurate graphics that adhere to AP Graphics standards
- 60% Intake, triage, and resolve a wide variety of graphic requests including graphs, math and science figures, infographics, maps, realia, photo edits, and illustrated sequences.
Resolve ad-hoc requests for revisions or iterations in a timely and efficient manner Check all deliverables thoroughly for compliance with accessibility standards Contribute to resource development and continuous improvement efforts within and beyond the AP Graphics team
- 20% Contribute to style guides and asset library development Assist Graphics team members with proofing and QC reviews Ensure efficient and timely production of all AP assessment and other resource graphics according to evolving production schedules and protocols
- 20% Expedite and prioritize deliverables dynamically as necessitated by shifting schedules or other circumstances Engage in both independent and collaborative troubleshooting for technical issues and process improvements Connect with Content and Assessment Production colleagues semi-regularly to ensure smooth production and clear communications About You You have: 3+ years of professional technical art, graphic design, and/or illustration experience Bachelor’s degree in design, illustration, or another related field Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop (Proficiency with Adobe InDesign or other Creative Cloud apps is a plus.
) Portfolio demonstrating excellent vector graphic and illustration skills Competent photo editing skills Strong attention to detail Understanding of basic mathematical concepts like scale, ratios, and percentages Strong organization and prioritization skills and the proven ability to move forward multiple assignments in concert Excellent verbal and written communication skills Availability to travel to onsite meetings approximately 3-5 times per year Working knowledge of Smartsheet is a plus All roles at College Board require: A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work Authorization to work in the United States for any employer Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Tools (or a willingness to learn) Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and a comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.
