Job Description

Sinclair prides itself on being first-on-the-scene whenever there is breaking news in our local markets, and through our relentless follow-up we have often played an invaluable role in solving the most talked about criminal cases of the last half century. With nearly 30 years of archival content, and more offenses happening every day, we are creating a new digital destination to unite armchair detectives across the country as we dive deeper into the world of True Crime, Criminally Obsessed. As part of our expansion into genre reporting, we are looking for an experienced Editor to join our Criminally Obsessed team developing and producing original programming for YouTube focused on the murders, scams, scandals, and criminal chaos that is currently captivating our nation. We’re looking for someone who has a versatile production and post background with a deep passion for digital content. Candidates must have experience in conceptualizing and executing short-, mid- and long-form video content, creating eye-catching thumbnails, and an understanding of the entire production process from start to finish. You should also understand the editorial side of things, as you collaborate with producers, on-camera talent and researchers on scripts and edits to create captivating true crime content. To succeed in this role, you must be well-versed in the language of the internet, hyper aware of social trends, and possess the ability to articulate a creative vision. Experience producing and editing for YouTube a must.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • + Attend Content Strategy Sessions to pitch and produce original social-first true crime content + Collaborate with assigned producers and talent to research and gather all necessary creative materials for approved projects + Work independently to assemble and edit assigned content through all stages of post-production and the review process + Utilize the full Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools to create motion graphics, to deliver high-quality content + Design social graphics including thumbnails that maintain brand guidelines + Make informed editorial decisions around content, episode length, and metadata, optimizing show for maximum audience growth + Work in coordination with Creative Service to develop and design social graphics that maintain brand guidelines through all video and social content + Advise on workflows to ensure production efficiency; educate both internal and external teams on best practices + Keep up with latest trends, software updates, and platform changes to help drive innovative ways to create new content •
Qualifications:
  • + 5+ years hands-on experience in all aspects of video production and post production including shooting, lighting, sound recording & editing, and ability to operate and troubleshoot all associated equipment + Highly skilled across Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Premiere Rush, Photoshop, After Effects, etc), and other creative software + Strong understanding of video editing techniques and storytelling + Demonstrated experience in motion graphics and creating social media video content + Strong knowledge of YouTube and its best practices + Proficiency in designing still graphics, including thumbnails and infographics + An eye for quality content, with an understanding of what plays well across various channels + This position requires impeccable spelling and grammar, a deep understanding of social media trends and what works on each platform, vertical video editing skills, and the ability to capture well-composed videos on a phone + Must be highly motivated, extremely organized, and come to the position with a uniquely creative mind + Flexibility to travel and work nights and/or weekends, as projects call for + Only applicants with portfolios, sites, or reels of their work will be considered Sinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $90,000 to$104,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
