Job Description
The Overnight Editor will be responsible for publishing digital stories for The Times and Sunday Times in the late afternoon and evening US time. They will be based in the US

• ideally in the New York office but the location is flexible
• and commission, edit and write stories, manage live blogs and ensure the quality of our journalism by selecting pictures, writing headlines and curating the homepage.
  Salary range: $70k
• $110k
  Responsibilities
  Take responsibility for the digital publication of US and global stories overnight UK Serve as night news editor for the US desk, working on a flexible shift pattern, including weekend work where necessary
  Facilitate 24-hour global news coverage by monitoring wires and managing live blogs where required
  Commission and edit copy, file stories if needed and build/publish in the CMS
  Assist with the curation of the UK and US homepages, and with copy-editing/scheduling newsletters
  Skills and experience
  Experience as an editor at a national or local news publication, ideally in US or UK Strong news sense and understanding of how to produce the highest-quality stories, including mobile-first digital storytelling Imagination in writing headlines and other digital furniture
  A good understanding of SEO and off-platform story promotion Ability to identify and implement efficient ways of working that raise standards
  A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
