POSITION SUMMARY

Apparel Fit Tech Designer manages the construction of tech packs, garment uniformity and consistency as it pertains to fit, construction and quality. Collaborates with all apparel product development team members including designers and overseas vendors. Develops, size charts, detailed sketches, standardized pattern blocks and size sets; ensures product is consistent with standards and provides prompt feedback to vendors to meet production timelines. Troubleshoots product fit issues and developments patterns when required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensure consistent garment quality by overseeing fit, construction, and quality standards throughout the development process. Develop and maintain standardized pattern blocks and size sets; provide timely feedback to vendors to meet production deadlines. Create and manage accurate size charts based on brand-specific measurements and grading rules. Maintain and update tech packs in the PLM system, focusing on sizing, fit standards, and development feedback. Evaluate samples and provide detailed feedback on fit, style, and construction to both internal teams and external vendors. Lead and coordinate fit sessions, including scheduling, managing fit models, and preparing garments and materials. Recommend alternative construction techniques and measurement methods during fit sessions to support development and merchandising goals. Document comprehensive fit notes, update PLM records, and approve fit, trims, and construction details within established timelines. Communicate fit comments and corrections clearly to overseas partners and manufacturing facilities. Collaborate in the use of technical sketches and annotations to ensure fit accuracy and assist in resolving quality concerns. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to fit processes and customer satisfaction. Provide insights on trends and fit to ensure alignment with brand identity and market relevance. Creates production sketches for garments and develops tech packs; Collaborates with designers and product specialists to ensure tech pack are accurate. Ensures pre-production and production samples are complete to ensure all deadlines are met. Initiates continuous improvement projects related to fit process and customer fit satisfaction.

ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in technical design or garment development. Proficiency in PLM systems, MS Excel and Adobe Illustrator. Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and grading. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Candidate must have practical technical design experience, including but not limited to, fittings, approvals, patternmaking, and construction of garments, technical sketching, and creating tech packs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

Ability to spec garments, develop patterns, troubleshoot sample fit issues, and make corrections Knowledge of garment fitting, construction and patternmaking A trained eye for proportion and balance as well as aesthetic detail Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Proactive on problem solving and resolution oriented Ability to lead through clear and consistent actions Proficient use with software programs: Adobe Illustrator, MS Excel, PLM, Clo 3d Experience is beneficial Adaptability to quickly learn other design tools for development processes and team productivity Ability to self-manage/work independently and multi-task
