We’re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Apparel Designer to join our retail client for a hybrid role in New York City. This is a 3-month engagement, with a possible extension with an expected start date end of June. In this role, you’ll contribute your creative vision and technical skills to our upcoming collections, focusing specifically on woven and knit garments. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative designs and see your sketches come to life.

What You’ll Do:

Conceptualize and hand-sketch original apparel designs for women’s woven and knit categories, translating seasonal trends and brand aesthetics into compelling garments.
Prepare and lead internal design presentations, effectively communicating design concepts, mood boards, and proposed collections to cross-functional teams.
Actively participate in fitting sessions, collaborating with technical design and product development to ensure design intent, fit, and construction quality are met.
Contribute to the creation and refinement of design specifications and technical packages to ensure accurate product development and manufacturing.
Conduct research on current market trends, competitor analysis, and fashion forecasts to inform design decisions and maintain a fresh, relevant perspective.
Collaborate closely with the broader design team, product development, and merchandising to ensure design consistency and alignment with collection goals.

What You’ll Bring:

Proven experience working as an Apparel Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing Women’s Woven and/or Knit designs.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for design development and technical flats.
Exceptional hand-sketching abilities with a keen eye for proportion, drape, and detail.
Solid understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and manufacturing processes relevant to woven and knit apparel.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design ideas clearly and persuasively.
A passion for fashion, an understanding of target markets, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience with Miro or similar collaborative whiteboarding tools.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and materials.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $37.27 to $41.42 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include; medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in a 401k plan with company match.
