Overview As a Whiting & you are a critical cross functional leader, responsible for creating aesthetically pleasing, quality products while achieving quality and construction standards. This is a freelance position with the potential to become full time. Responsibilities Design and detail evening bags and accessories for the Women’s Mainline Handbag collection through market research, trend analysis, sketching designs, coloring CADS and building comprehensive full scale specs. Ensure that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy; interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategy. Reviews and oversees issuance of all specs for accuracy, completeness, quality, affordability, and compliance prior to release. Develops and maintains standards for brand consistency. Qualifications Creative, technically capable, extensive knowledge of Handbag manufacturing, including construction, material and industrial design techniques. Strong organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills Detailed oriented, proactive, self sufficient Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment. 2-3 years of design experience within Handbags and/or Accessories Bachelor’s Degree in Accessories Design or Equivalent Ability to work in our Rhode Island office occasionally Strong Technical Skills Ability to create full scale technical specs utilizing CAD Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop The ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts The ability to conceptually visualize and build a product line assortment.
