Full Job Description Industry:

Furniture, accessory, and lighting designer for high end wholesale company engaged in design and distribution.

Job Summary:

Assist in the Design and Development of Home Décor products to meet business goals, current style trends and market concepts. Must be a self-starter with problem solving and organizational skills and ability to help manage projects from start to finish. (drive the process for product development of new items.) Will be required to communicate with factories overseas to ensure proper development and shipping deadlines of samples. Will be collaborating with in house design team on the bi-annual collection introductions and with outside clients on custom projects/partnership lines. Will be collaborating with marketing on photography, product information, and preparing samples for market. Will be working with procurement to manage flow of samples from development to production. Will be required to work with global factory options to source and develop new finishes, materials, and mechanics. Must be able to quickly adapt to design procedures and systems in place for organization of sample and product information and understand office-wide programs such as inventory software.

Requirements:

Mid to Senior Level design experience with knowledge of design trends, market analysis, materials, basic structural elements, and CAD drawing software. Knowledge of the furniture design industry including materials and applications of general design practices preferred. Educational Degree in Design is preferred. At least 3 years’ experience in design/drafting and specifying furniture or home decor products in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Ability to function independently or in a team and show sound judgment in a fast-paced environment adapting to change with a sense of urgency Must be detail oriented, very organized, and have design presentation skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize critical issues and be a team player within all levels of the organization
