JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Floral and Produce Merchandising drives sales, enhances customer experience, manages inventory, ensures product quality, and leads a team of field merchandising specialists to deliver operational excellence. This role develops and implements strategies for Floral and Produce departments, collaborating with purchasing, marketing, and store operations, and directly oversees the Floral Design Center. Responsibilities include developing merchandising plans, analyzing sales data, overseeing product selection and inventory, establishing visual merchandising standards, collaborating on promotional campaigns, monitoring performance, leading the merchandising team, and ensuring food safety. This role requires 4 days in office and 1 day remote (Tuesday & Wednesday are required in-office days). This role is also located in St Louis, Missouri.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute comprehensive floral and produce merchandising plans that align with overall business objectives. Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer preferences to inform merchandising strategies and identify opportunities for growth in both floral and produce. Oversee product selection, and inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels and freshness for both floral and produce in stores. Establish and maintain visual merchandising standards and guidelines to create attractive and engaging displays for both floral and produce. Collaborate with marketing and advertising teams to develop promotional campaigns and marketing materials for the floral and produce departments. Monitor and evaluate the performance of merchandising initiatives, providing reports and recommendations for improvement for both floral and produce. Lead and develop a team of merchandising specialists, providing coaching, training, and performance management. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards, especially relevant for the produce department. Work closely with store operations to implement merchandising plans and ensure effective execution at the store level for both floral and produce. Manage the floral and assist with produce department budgets, controlling costs and maximizing profitability. Oversee floral and produce merchandising standards, and remodel and new store layouts. Lead and execute strategies that provide profitable produce/floral sales, while being accountable for GP margins/rate and TIL Oversight/accountability of the Floral Design Center P&L Lead and direct Produce/Floral Specialist providing coaching, training, performance management and development Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education:
High School Other Requirements:

In-store experience; vendor/grower education

Minimum Years of Experience:

3 to 5 years

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge Expert knowledge of the floral wholesale/retail industry, and produce retail merchandising, manager and leadership skills Knowledge of period/category planning Knowledge of how to operate as a mass market merchant Knowledge of foundational business operations and business acumen Skills & Abilities Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite Communication skills with the ability to motivate others. Merchant mentality-retail floral expertise, produce merchandising Ability to read and evaluate company reports. Critical thinking/analysis skills Team building skills to include leadership and talent cultivation Ability to successfully budget and forecast
