Job Summary Vulcan Industries, a subsidiary of EBSCO Industries and leading provider of displays for the retail industry, is looking for an Industrial Designer who is excited about the future of retail. This position will develop innovative, safe, ergonomic, user-friendly designs that attract consumers and increase sales for our customers. The person in this position may use sketches and illustrations or 3D CAD renderings to demonstrate overall display design and important display features and work with engineering, marketing and production teams through all phases of the projects. This person will have the opportunity to see conceptual sketches and photo-realistic renderings come to life as full in-house production runs. You will work directly with our Director of creative Strategy and our engineering department. Because we are a production facility, you must have a basic understanding of manufacturing to produce realistic design solutions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Use computer-aided design to develop and demonstrate designs. Ability to sketch design concepts is a plus. Revise CAD models according to client specifications. Read detailed engineering drawings. Maintaining housekeeping in work area. Self-motivated, ability to produce results without constant supervision.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field of study. At least 3 years’ work experience designing in a custom manufacturing environment. Proficiency with CAD software and photo-realistic renderings. Knowledge of 3DS Max and Photoshop preferred. Ability to read detailed engineering drawings. Maintain high level of quality, thoroughness and attention to detail. Great communication skills. Other Skills Willingness to collaborate with other designers and engineers to find the best solution Desire to continue learning about the ever-changing retail and display industries. Working Conditions Inside, climate-controlled office environment.
