As a Commercial Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for creating compelling and visually appealing designs that support The Sporting News’ commercial goals. Reporting to the Creative Director — you’ll collaborate closely with our sales, marketing, and editorial teams to develop a wide range of creative assets that effectively communicate our brand message. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, excellent technical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptualize and design marketing materials, including presentations, digital ads, activations, and other collateral. Develop visually engaging layouts and designs for sponsored content initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with The Sporting News’ brand aesthetic. Ensure all designs are visually consistent with The Sporting News’ brand identity and maintain high standards of quality. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively. Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies. Prepare final design files for various outputs, ensuring they are optimized for digital and physical applications. Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand style guides and visual asset libraries. Present design concepts and effectively communicate design rationale to stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field. Experience as a Graphic Designer, preferably with experience in a media, sports, or agency environment. A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of commercial design work, including digital and print projects. Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout best practices. Experience designing for digital platforms, including web, social media, and mobile. Familiarity with preparing files for both print production and digital delivery. Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. A passion for sports and an understanding of the sports media landscape is a plus. Familiarity with project management tools is a plus. Experience with motion graphics or video editing is a bonus.
