DescriptionAn Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III willbe responsible for performing, directing, and supervising allaspects of Electrical Engineering on multi-discipline industrialprocess design projects of small to large scope for facilities thatprocess minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals,among others. General responsibilities include but are not limited to thefollowing: Performing all aspects of electrical engineering design(specifically power distribution) as a Senior or Lead Engineer,including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, DesignAnalyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and Systemselection and layout for industrial process design and siteelectrical utilities with minimal direction from supervisingstaff Meeting with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scopeof work for industrial process design electrical engineeringservices Providing oversight and coordination of electrical engineeringprojects and the electrical engineering portion of multi-disciplineprojects, and working with assigned Project Managers to meetclient’s budget, contract fees, goals, objectives, anddeadlines Coordinating, supervising, and communicating all aspects ofelectrical design within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure thatelectrical design details integrate properly with all otherdisciplines represented on the design team Directing, supervising, training, and ensuring quality controlof electrical engineers, EIT’s, and designers Ensuring staff compliance with quality control policies andprocedures and providing electrical engineering QC reviews forother engineers and designers Preparing and supervising the preparation of accurate andcomplete electrical project programming, schematic designs, designdevelopment designs, and construction documents Performing and supervising electrical engineering supportservices during the bidding process, such as preparing addenda,amendments, and responding to RFI’s Performing and directing electrical engineering constructionphase services including representing the firm on-site, answeringRFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and preparing As-built drawings,etc. as directed Provide technical input to the engineering design such as valueengineering and industry best practices Working with, responding to, and taking direction from ProjectManagers and senior management Working independently with limited direction, butcollaboratively with other engineers and designers Mentoring engineering staff to foster their professionaldevelopment Actively support Company marketing and business developmentactivities Establish and maintain positive client relationships Provide technical guidance to electrical staff Assisting in developing new and/or revised processes andprocedures Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the ProjectEngineer, Design Manager, Project Managers, principals, and seniormanagement. Perform other duties as required Project responsibilities include but are not limited to thefollowing: Performing Project Manager duties as assigned Serve in the role of Lead Project Engineer on projects asassigned Discipline design and documentation of industrial processelectrical systems Develop discipline design approach and methodology Develop discipline project plan and productionmethodology Preparing accurate, complete, and code-compliant electricaldrawings and specifications for schematic, design development, andconstruction document submittals Coordinate work product with other disciplines Reviewing calculations and work products produced by electricalengineers and electrical EIT’s assigned to the project Reviewing project drawings Preparing scope and fee proposals for the electrical portion ofmulti-discipline projects or single-discipline, electrical-onlyprojects Development of project proposals, budgets, schedules, andreports Perform discipline QA/QC reviews on assigned projects Review and approve discipline code analysis Develop discipline specifications Respond to RFI’s, owner review comments, etc. Back-check discipline QC comments Adhere to project budget and schedule and monitor ownperformance relative to budget and schedule Potential travel up to 20% Education, Technology, and Experience An Industrial Electrical Designer III will have 7-18 years ofsignificant design and practice experience in a leadership rolewith an Industrial firm, Electrical firm, MEP firm, ormulti-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm with substantialknowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as electricalengineering experience in an industrial setting Graduate of an ABET-accredited 4, 5, or 6-year engineeringprogram in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Active participation in IEEE, IES or other related professionalorganizations is desirable An Industrial Electrical Designer III should be able toeffectively utilize current company software programs for wordprocessing, e-mail, accounting, and information management Working familiarity with design and production software to apoint of being able to understand the capabilities and limitationsof the programs and interact with the support staff in their use ofthe software is highly desirable Specific software includes: SKM Power Tools or Equivalent Microsoft Office AutoCAD MicroStation BIM Strong experience in the design of power distribution,lighting, and communications systems is desirable 24-hour MSHA miner safety training is desirable Familiarity with MSHA standards and other related industrialprocess design parameters is highly desired. Design or construction experience in Design/Build andEngineering Procurement Construction project delivery methods isdesirable. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to prepare effective and concise documents Ability to make presentations to a variety of groups Possess technical precision and creative design skills Have a client-oriented can-do attitude with a desire to provideoutstanding professional services Be dedicated to his or her professional development as well asthe success of colleagues and the firm as a whole Possess demonstrated ability to lead by example, teaching andmentoring less experienced staff and working well with others in ateam environment Physical Requirements Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. Thework area is lighted, heated, and ventilated. This position mayrequire extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as somerepetitive movements, bending and lifting of minimal weight.
